Medical School Overview
Students at the University of Rochester Medical School learn through the Double Helix Curriculum, which combines basic sciences and knowledge of clinical medicine throughout all four years of school. Students can choose to cater their medical education through elective pathways in areas including Latino language, culture, and health, or humanities programs including literature and religious studies. There is also an optional Academic Research Track program that adds a research component to the first two years of school.
For students who want to broaden their education further, there are several joint degree programs, including an M.D./Ph.D., M.D./M.S. in Medical Neurobiology, and an M.D./M.B.A through the University of Rochester William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration. The University of Rochester Medical Center also includes Strong Memorial Hospital, Highland Hospital, Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong, and the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center. Graduate students can live in several university-owned housing complexes or can use the university Community Living Program to find off-campus housing throughout Rochester, N.Y.
