Students at the Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus can earn M.D.’s or joint degrees that combine an M.D. with another advanced degree. The M.D./Ph.D. program trains physician scientists, and the M.D./M.B.A. program helps students pursue healthcare management in partnership with the Ohio State Fisher College of Business. Through other dual degrees, med students can earn an M.B.A. along with a J.D. from the Moritz College of Law, a master of health administration, or a master of public health.
To make the most of their studies, OSU med students should stop by the Medical Student Advisory Center, which helps with academic counseling, study strategies, and preparation for the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLE). The Office of Career Advising helps students decide on post-graduation plans by setting up career fairs, offering advice, and helping students find research and residency opportunities.
Students can further their academics and make friends by exploring the School of Medicine’s numerous student organizations, which range from Greek-letter societies to the Nite Out club, which organizes the medical school variety show.
There’s also much to do on the campus of Ohio State—one of the most populous schools in the nation. Students can check out the university-wide campus clubs and cheer on the much acclaimed OSU Buckeyes Division I sports teams. Off campus, School of Medicine students can also take in the shopping, dining, and cultural opportunities of the state capital of Columbus.
