Manhattan’s Mount Sinai School of Medicine has been a leader in curriculum innovation, introducing the nation’s first academic departments of geriatrics, environmental medicine, and occupational medicine. The school also runs unique institutes, such as the Morchand Center for Clinical Competence, aimed at helping students and physicians boost their communication skills, and the Center for Jewish Genetic Diseases, which focuses on disease afflicting Ashkenazi Jews, a community from Eastern Europe.
