As the largest biomedical research institution in the state of Ohio, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine has been on the forefront of medical research discoveries including the world’s first artificial human chromosome in 1997.
Notable alumni of the Case Western Reserve School of Medicine include former U.S. Surgeon Generals Jesse Leonard Steinfeld and David Satcher, and Julie L. Gerberding, the first female director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
