With an entering class size of roughly 190 students, the University of Washington School of Law offers a student-to-faculty ratio of 10:1. J.D. students can concentrate their legal education through several tracks including Asian Law, Environmental Law, and Public Service Law. The law school is also known for its top-ranked Law Librarianship program. UW Law offers J.D. students concurrent or joint degree programs in conjunction with other academic departments at the University of Washington, including a J.D./M.B.A. through the Foster School of Business, a J.D./Master in Health Administration through the School of Public Health, and a J.D./Master of Public Administration through the Evans School of Public Affairs.
Law students must complete at least 60 hours of public service before graduation, either through school clinics, such as the Innocence Project Northwest or the Tribal Court Public Defense; through externships; or through involvement with Street Law, an law and democracy education programs. There are about 40 student organizations at UW Law, as well as four legal journals: the Pacific Rim Law and Policy Journal; the Shidler Journal of Law, Commerce & Technology; the Washington Law Review; and the Washington Journal of Environmental Law & Policy.
