The University of Oklahoma College of Law, located in Norman, is the only public law school in the state. The law school operates on a traditional academic calendar, though about 20 students who need may need a little extra help are permitted to begin school in the summer through the UO Early Admissions Program.
In addition to a traditional J.D., law students can pursue a joint J.D./M.B.A. in conjunction with the University of Oklahoma Michael F. Price College of Business or a J.D./master of public health through the University of Oklahoma College of Public Health, among other joint degrees. For students interested in American Indian Law, UO offers both a joint J.D./master of American Indian studies and a certificate program in American Indian Law that can be tacked onto the J.D. program.
J.D. students can build their lawyers skills through the OU Legal Clinic, which delves into civil rights law, criminal defense, and more. The law school is also home to the Bell Courtroom, where live trials take place, as well as the Center for the Study of American Indian Law and Policy. Law journals at UO include the Oklahoma Law Review, the Oklahoma Journal of Law and Technology, and the American Indian Law Review. For time away from Norman, law students can partake in the law school’s Oxford Summer Program or China Law Summer Program, which both offer courses for credit.
