Experiential learning is stressed through the law school’s CaseArc Integrated Lawyering Skills program, which takes first- and second-year students through a series of legal problems, including interviewing clients and negotiating settlements. Further hands-on opportunities to get involved exist in the school’s clinics and labs, such as Milton A. Kramer Law Clinic and the Death Penalty Lab. Case Western also runs a unique War Crimes Research Lab, which performs background work for international criminal tribunals. In addition, the Case Western School of Law operates a variety of academic centers, including the Center for Business Law and Regulation, the Center for Social Justice, and the Institute for Global Security Law and Policy.
Students interested in getting further involved while at Case Western may be able to get involved in student organizations, including the Sports and Entertainment Law Society and the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund, as well as a variety of student journals including the Health Matrix: Journal of Law-Medicine, the country’s sole student-edited health law journal, and the Canada-United States Law Journal, also unique in its topic coverage.
