There is also the Boston College Law School Land and Environmental Program, which can culminate in a Certificate in Environmental & Land Use Law. For students who want to combine their legal education with another discipline, there are multiple dual degree options, including a J.D./M.B.A. through the Carroll School of Management, a J.D./Master of Social Work through the School of Social Work, and J.D./M.A. in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning in conjunction with Tufts University.
Through the school’s numerous in-house clinical courses, students can get hands-on experience in areas including housing law, civil ligation, and criminal justice. There is also a clinic specific to women’s legal issues, called Women and the Law, in which students work on cases including divorce, spousal support, and restraining orders. Boston College Law School students can check out more than 35 student organizations, such as the Asia Law Society, as well as a variety of academic advocacy programs, including internal and inter-school competitions. Legal journals at the school include the Boston College Law Review, the Third World Law Journal, and the Environmental Affairs Law Review.
The law school is six miles from downtown Boston, and students can live in university-owned housing or can use the Boston College Off-Campus Housing Office to find rental properties nearby. Notable alumni of Boston College Law School include U.S. Senator John Kerry and U.S. Olympic gymnast Shannon Miller.
