Baylor Law School in Waco, Texas, emphasizes small classes and trial advocacy—a program for which it has a high law school ranking. The law school operates on a quarter schedule, and students can begin law school in the fall, spring, and summer quarters. They are also permitted to take any quarter off—not just the summer term—for a clerkship, externship, or study abroad experience.
Baylor Law School offers a variety of areas of concentrations in its legal curriculum, including intellectual property, criminal practice, and estate planning. The trial advocacy program, for which the school is particularly well known, involves students in a six-month practice court for hands-on experience in cross examination, jury selection, and more. Students may also pursue a few joint degree programs, including a J.D./M.B.A. or a J.D./Master’s of Taxation program in conjunction with the Baylor University Hankamer School of Business.
Students are automatically considered for scholarships when they apply to Baylor Law School, including awards for LSAT scores and GPAs, as well as for overcoming hardships. Students who enter Baylor without a scholarship may be awarded one in their second or third years for high law school GPAs.
