The campus is one of only a handful in the country to house two active Engineering Research Centers that receive funding from the National Science Foundation, and the Institute for Creative Technologies examines what artificial intelligence, video games, and virtual human training, among other developments, could mean for the Army.
Viterbi educates about 3,800 students, all of whom can apply to live in university-owned, off-campus apartment buildings. In their free time, innovative engineering students can get involved in contests like the Maseeh Entrepreneurship Prize, which awards $50,000 and mentoring for effective business ideas and inventions.
