The College of Engineering at Pennsylvania State University—University Park houses nearly 60 research centers, laboratories, and facilities, including six interdisciplinary research centers such as the Materials Research Institute and the Huck Institutes for the Life Sciences.

Graduate students at Penn State—University Park can use their engineering expertise to benefit local and global communities through the school’s community service projects, which include Habitat for Humanity, Engineers Without Frontiers, and Girl Scout Saturdays.

One notable alumnus from Penn State—University Park’s College of Engineering is Richard T. James, inventor of the Slinky.
