Business School Overview
The Graduate School of Business at University of Tennessee offers graduate programs in these departments and concentrations: entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, production/operations management, and supply chain management/logistics. The Graduate School of Business at the University of Tennessee—Knoxville offers a specialty M.B.A. in aerospace and defense management, with curriculum designed and sponsored by Boeing, Delta Air Lines, the U.S. Army, and other leading public and private defense organizations. In addition to the M.B.A. offering, the school is also home to the National Defense Business Institute, which provides research and acquisition consulting services to the Department of Defense, as well as private-sector defense companies.
Aerospace and defense is not the only program option for M.B.A. candidates at the University of Tennessee—Knoxville. The school offers a Physician Executive M.B.A. in addition to their traditional full-time program, and part-time options designed for students with professional and executive experience. Students can focus on areas such as finance or business analytics, or design a custom concentration to suit their academic and professional goals. Dual degrees available through the Graduate School of Business include an M.B.A. /M.S. in Business Analytics, Sports Management, Agricultural Economics, or Engineering; and a J.D./M.B.A. through UT—Knoxville’s College of Law.
Outside of the classroom, M.B.A. students can participate in industry-specific boot camps, case competitions, or get involved in student organizations such as the Tennessee Organization of M.B.A.s, or the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals.
Notable alumni from the Graduate School of Business at UT—Knoxville include John Compton, CEO of PepsiCo Americas Foods; Charles C. Anderson Jr., CEO of magazine and book distribution company Anderson Media; and Edward J. Boling, who served as president of the University of Tennessee for 18 years.
