The University of Pittsburgh is one 16 schools that founded the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the main accrediting agency of business administration and accounting degrees. Today, the University of Pittsburgh’s Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business stresses experience-based learning and connects students with companies ranging from innovative start-ups to Fortune 100 corporations.

Students at the Katz Graduate School of Business who are interested in earning an M.B.A. have a few different routes from which to choose. In 1963, Katz was the first school to offer a one-year M.B.A. program, and it still offers this option today. Pitt business students can also check out the two-year M.B.A. track, or the part-time M.B.A. program, which consists of evening classes and is often completed in about three years.

Working professionals can choose the Executive MBA (EMBA) Worldwide program, and those interested in both business administration and another field can pursue one of the school’s handful of joint degree programs. Students at the Katz Graduate School of Business can also pursue the 30-credit M.S. in accounting.

Outside the classroom, Katz students can check out five distinct centers, including the David Berg Center for Ethics and Leadership. Students can also discover the arts, museums, food, and professional sports of Pittsburgh.

Notable alumni of the University of Pittsburgh Katz Graduate School of Business include Rick Santorum, former senator from Pennsylvania; Kevin March, CFO and senior vice president of Texas Instruments; and Susan Arnold, president of the Folgers Coffee Company.
