University of Kansas and its School of Business are located about 40 minutes from Kansas City in the city of Lawrence, which is home to about 80,000 residents, as well as music venues, art galleries, restaurants, and eclectic shops.
Business students can bond with the rest of the KU student body by participating in the university’s pride in history and myriad traditions, such as the use of an old steam engine whistle to signal the end of hourly classes. At Division I KU Jayhawks sports games, students can also sing the famous KU chant, which was once praised by President Theodore Roosevelt as the best college chant he had ever heard.
In the classroom, grad students in the School of Business can earn a master of accounting degree, which is designed as a fifth year program that seamlessly follows four years of undergraduate accounting classes. Those students at KU get real world experience by working in consulting teams to serve major Kansas City-area businesses, and by shadowing professionals through the Jayhawks on the Job program.
KU students can earn an M.B.A. by attending class either full or part time. Full-time M.B.A. students complete the degree in two years and have the opportunity to participate in case competitions and attend national conferences such as the Private Equity Summit. M.B.A. Treks are organized by the Business Career Services Center and allow students to tour companies and meet with executives in major cities across the country.
Part-time M.B.A. classes are held weekday evenings and are located about 35 miles east of Lawrence at the KU Edwards campus. KU grad students can also pursue a master of science in business with a supply chain management and logistics concentration.
