St. Louis University, a Jesuit school, is home to the John Cook School of Business, which was founded in 1901 and is now the oldest business school west of the Mississippi River. By living in St. Louis, students have many opportunities to have fun by visiting the Gateway Arch, Anheuser-Busch Brewery, Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, and the stadiums of three professional sports teams: the Cardinals in the MLB, Rams in the NFL, and the Blues in the NHL.
As a large city, St. Louis has many companies for business students to explore, and the Cook School of Business Career Resources Center helps them do so. The center helps business students search for jobs, negotiate job offers and salaries, perfect résumés and cover letters, network, and interview.
At the graduate level, students at the Cook School of Business can earn an M.B.A. through a one-year program or via part-time classes, usually completed in about two years. Students with significant professional experience can also pursue the highly ranked executive master of international business, which is based on a 21-month curriculum.
The Cook School also offers four dual M.B.A. programs, as well as master’s degrees in accounting and supply chain management. The business school at St. Louis University is also home to several distinctive centers, such as the Emerson Ethics Center, and the Entrepreneurship Center, which offers a program where students attend a private breakfast or lunch with successful entrepreneurs.
Notable alumni of Saint Louis University’s Cook School of Business include August Busch IV, former CEO of the Anheuser-Busch brewing company, and Mark Lamping, former president of the St. Louis Cardinals.
