Business School Overview

The Frank G. Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University offers these departments and concentrations: accounting, finance, general management, health care administration, human resources management, international business, marketing, management information systems, real estate, sports business, quantitative analysis/statistics and operations research, and tax. Its tuition is full-time: $1,125 per credit; part-time: $1,125 per credit; and executive: $97,200. At graduation, 33.3 percent of graduates of the full-time program are employed.

Hofstra University is located in Hempstead, N.Y., on Long Island and about 25 miles from Manhattan. Grad students in Hofstra’s Frank G. Zarb School of Business are in a prime location for jumping on public transportation and exploring myriad real-world experiences and networking opportunities in the Big Apple, while attending class in a slower-paced town, on a campus with its own museum, libraries, restaurants, student clubs, and varsity sports.

In the classroom, Zarb School of Business graduate students can earn either an M.B.A. or M.S. degree. Students can earn a master of science in any of eight fields, such as human resources management or information technology.

Zarb School of Business students interested in pursuing an M.B.A. from Hofstra have a few ways to do so. Full-time M.B.A. students can choose from about a dozen concentrations, including sports and entertainment management, international business, health services management, and real estate.

Hofstra M.B.A. students can also check out about six campus clubs that focus specifically on M.B.A. studies. The Hofstra Investment Banking Association, for example, plans events and promotes the interests of Zarb students pursuing a career in finance, and the M.B.A./M.S. Association is open to all business grad students at Hofstra, who want to work on networking and career planning.

Working students may want to look into the Hofstra Executive M.B.A., which often waives the GMAT exam requirement for applicants with significant business experience. The average Executive M.B.A. class size is about 12 students, who meet mostly on Saturdays, and complete their degrees in 20 months.

Hofstra students can make the most of their academics by exploring the Frank G. Zarb School of Business Graduate Career Services, which helps with job placement, alumni and employer networking, and interviewing skills, among other services.
