The College of William and Mary, located in Williamsburg, Va., is the second-oldest institute of higher education in the country, next to Harvard University. The college was founded in 1693, and in 1919, William and Mary’s Department of Business opened, laying the groundwork for what is now the Mason School of Business.

Graduate students can earn either an M.B.A. or a master’s of accounting degree at the Mason School of Business. The full-time M.B.A. program spans over two years, and includes the Leadership Development Experience, which provides students with one-on-one coaching from a senior business executive. The executive M.B.A. at Mason School of Business is designed for experienced professionals and usually takes about 20 months to earn, with Friday and Saturday classes twice a month. Through the flex M.B.A. program, students take classes weekday evenings for about three years.

College of William and Mary students in the Mason School of Business who are interested in becoming an auditor, tax adviser, or consultant can pursue the master of accounting program, which is usually completed in nine months. Each year, master of accounting students go on a five-day road trip to a city such as Washington, D.C., to meet with professionals in the field.

The College of William and Mary Mason School of Business is also home to the Center for Corporate Education, the Plumeri Communication Center, and the Alan B. Miller Entrepreneurship Center. For post-graduation plans, full-time M.B.A. students can check out CareerPREP, which helps students find employment and, each academic year, provides them with a $300 stipend for job search-related activities. Graduate students earning an accounting degree can explore the Cohen Career Center, which hosts on-campus recruitment events, as well as career workshops.
